Nigeria -based human rights lawyer and indigene of the Niger -Delta region of
Nigeria on Sunday hit hard at President Goodluck Jonathan , his kinsman,
saying he would be remembered as the president who destroyed his country
and his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP .
Keyamo further challenged leading citizens of the country to stop sitting on the
fence ahead of the presidential election and , instead , speak out for the
betterment of the country and for posterity to judge them positively .
In a very lengthy press statement titled : “2015 : Jonathan Versus Buhari : The
Elites Must Not Sit On The Fence ”, and signed by Keyamo , the lawyer said he
had decided to come down from his high horse to speak out because he could
no longer bear the propaganda that was raging ahead of the election .
“The epitaph that will be left for the presidential years of Goodluck Jonathan is
this: HERE IS A PRESIDENT WHO DESTROYED PDP AND ALMOST DESTROYED
NIGERIA.
“I have purged my conscience . Now, I can sleep, ” Keyamo stated.
He also stressed his frustration and those of Nigerians who he said had to
bear what he called cluelessness in government and President Jonathan’ s
inability to stem corruption that has enveloped the entire country.
He said apart from the fact that the president is from the Niger -Delta and thus
a South - south person , there had been no other reason why some people in the
region want him re -elected .
Those in the area who are agitating for the President ’ s re- election , Keyamo
said , are only interested in what they can get from the President and not in the
interest of Nigeria .
