Armed robbers numbering about 10 yesterday evening invaded Ikare Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing two persons.
The armed robbers, according to sources, also attacked the Ikare
Police Division where two police officers were reportedly injured.
It was learnt that the robbers arrived the town at about 4pm and
moved straight to a branch of a new generation bank in the town where
they operated for two hours.
The robbers, it was learnt carted away huge sum of money
from the bank. A resident of the town informed Daily Sun that the
robbers after operating at the bank moved to the police post where they
allegedly attacked officers on duty. Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO) in the state Mr. Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident.
